Budget hydration system - 'SmartTube'

While 'Camelbak' hydration systems are all the rage they are a little expensive if all you want is the occasional slurp of water (we aren't in a real warzone after all). So I have been looking around for a budget alternatives, that still offered the 'on the fly' convenience of the Camelbak.

smarttube.jpgAmazon.co.uk has this rather nice hands-free drinking system (plastic tube!) for use with ordinary drinking bottles. Called 'SmartTube' it is basically the drinking tube of the kind found on 'Camelbak' systems, but with a cap attachment at the other end to fit to most standard plastic drinks bottles.

At £6.99 it's a lot cheaper than a 'CamelBak', and would allow you to use 1 or 2 litre bottles - all you would have to do is stick the bottle in a backpack, or rig it to attach to the back of your MOLLE vest (I'm trying out the old standby of 'duck tape').
