Good news for 'Chinasoft' AK lovers - new goodies

Airsoft manufacturers seem to take turns in bringing out new accessories and upgrade bits, last month it was all M4 this and M16 that - but this month I'm glad to say that it's the AKs turn in getting some goodies!

First of all D-Boys announce that they are releasing an all steel upgrade kit for their AKS74U. This is especially good news for me as I have one of these in the 'pot metal' form, and was thinking about upgrading to their all steel version, but this kit means I don't have to buy a completely new AEG. (No news of a retailer or price yet I'm afraid.)

Secondly, there are starting to be a few rather nice electric driven hi-cap AK47 magazines on the market. I have been eyeing up a very good looking Hero Arms Electric Double Mag AK (button control) at UNCompany.com, but this was £45 (£60 for teh sound activated version). Well, RSOV.com has undercut the Hero Arms model with a even cheaper one by 'Battleaxe' which is only £19.99!

I'm a bit dubious about the quality of such a cheap device, but at that shockingly low price I'm willing to give it a go! (Do bear in mind the cost of shipping from Hong Kong.)

This magazine - both the Hero Arms and the Battleaxe version - has two replica AK47 mags clipped together, a la tactical 'duplex'. One replica mag holds 1400 BBs (Hero Arms, 1200 Battleaxe) and the other mag holds the winding motor and batteries. This magazine also has a set of fake 7.62x39 bullets which acts as the battery box cover.

Despite being the cheaper model, the Battleaxe magazines comes in either a plain 'AA' battery driven format or a handy rechargable version.

Meanwhile, over at Gunner Airsoft (HK) there is a rather interesting budget replica of the Sampson AKS74 tactical rail. I've mentioned this rail before in my post about 'Tactical AKs' - and this aluminium version comes in at £37.

Well, this little lot will keep me occupied while I work out what to spend next month's pocket money on! ~ Yes, I'm 47 and still get pocket money, I know - it's sad....But there is a recession on!

You mentioned the sound activated mags. Any experience with them? I'm thinking of getting some for my G36C.

Do a review on the sound activated mags ;)
