Flecktarn camo loadout - November's purchases
Well, this recession may have had negative consequences on the amount I can spend on airsoft projects but I can still shell out for the odd budget item. This month I bought a few more pieces of kit to add to my Flecktarn (faux-German Army) loudout collection and I think I can say I managed to aquire some real bargains...
My 'Modern German Army' loadout project is a bit of a misnomer as in reality it is really an excuse to resurrect my old Flecktarn camo paintball BDUs and isn't altogether historically accurate. Right from the start I planned this loadout to be a budget project trying hard not to go over the top in any of the acquisitions I made for it. Despite this budget approach I think I have made some really nice purchases.
This month I have completed my load-bearing rig by way of adding the German Army modular belt (modular in it that it allows different pouches and accessories to be clipped to it by means of a special clasp system). I don't think I could really have purchased a cheaper rig than the wonderful 'starter set' offered by Flecktarn.co.uk. At just £19.50 they provide you with the belt itself, a harness yoke and three different pouches.
I have found the German modular system very practical and - in my opinion - a whole lot more secure than the more modern MOLLE system. The additional advantage is that if I decide to buy a more expensive Fleckktarn vest rig in teh furure I can still use all the pouches I have.
Finally, I splashed out a little - but couldn't resist - and bought a real (used) German Army G3 leather sling. This has to be my favourite purchase this month as it really lends some authenticity to my JG G3 replica. The outlay for this bit of militaria was just £5 (again from www.flecktarn.co.uk).
So there we have it, about £25 spent this month but I feel I got some excellent items and they go a long way to helping complete my Flecktarn loadout. All together this will be one of the cheapest loadouts I have in my collection, but it will look every bit as smart as some of the more expensive impressions I have put together.
