At last a 'cheapsoft' FN! (DBoy SCAR H)
Anyone who has followed my blog may know that I am at heart a FN (Fabrique Nationale de Herstal) fan. My first airsfort gun was a Classic Army SA58 - a DSA Inc. modification of the venerable FN FAL. But while there have been several excellent FN inspired airsoft replicas, the very best have all been expensive AEGs made by the likes of King Arms and STAR - and while I love FNs, I have never been able to justify paying the premium prices these manufacturers demand.
Above: My much beloved Classic Army SA58 - an airsoft replica of a version of the FN FAL. But a replica of this quality comes at a price (literally), in this case £369.99. With other premium quality versions of the FN FAL series likewise coming in at between £340 and over £400 I have never really been able to expand on my collection of this mark of gun - until now!
In truth there have been a few admirable attempts at a cheapsoft FNs; there was the JG P90, the JLS FN 2000 and recently a AGM SCAR 'L'. But, bullpups are not my 'thing', and I am also not a fan of replicas based on the 5.56mm calibre - I am staunchly a '7.62mm' type of guy!
So it was with much joy that I read on Airsoft-news.eu that DBoys are making an airsoft version of the 'H' version of the SCAR - 'H' standing for 'Heavy', the 7.62mm version of the SCAR design.
Above: Still very much in the prototype stage - hence the mish-mash of colours and bare metal - the DBoy SCAR H shows it's high metal content. It's interesting to note the sand coloured 7.62mm type magazine, this is an indication that DBoy will surely be releasing both the tactical black and desert tan version of this weapon (I will be going for the black version).
I am also very pleased that this is a DBoy replica. My favourite AEGs are DBoy (Kalash branded), they have been rugged, reliable, powerful and very good value for money. I'm looking forward to the DBoy SCAR Heavy.
