CYMA AKMS v KALASH AKMS!

This month it's AKM month - apparently! Every airsoft manufacturer seems to be racing to get out their particular replica of the very best - IMHO - Kalashnikov. While VFC and LCT are heading up the premier end of the market, the budget end of things is being represented by two very nice replicas from CYMA and Kalash.

Once again Airsoft-News.eu has the scoop on these two new AEGs - beating Arnies to the draw! Here's a comparison of the two AKMS replicas (source: Airsoft-News.eu)...

The word is that the Kalash has the edge, and going on past evidence I would have to agree. Kalash generally have the better finish to their metal - I don't like CYMA's flat black painted look as much. Internally both manufacturers appear to be cloning VFC models now (CYMA used to base theirs on TM I am told).

From what I can see from these photos, both seem to have very nice wood. They both appear to be rich and nicely grained like the real laminated furniture.

No word on price or when they will be released in the UK - but I am saving my pennies for the Kalash (I did have my eye on the CYMA AKM, which is available at Airsoft World for £148). All that remains is for me to decide what to do about the CYMA CM.036a AKM that I already have!

There's a discussion about the Kalash AKMS going on at Arnie's: ArniesAirsoft Forum
