New Tokyo Marui AK airsoft guns - AKS74 & AK102

Armie's Airsoft stole the lead from Airsoft-News.EU with this report from X-Fire about two new AK based AEGs with their recoil system.

Credit: www.x-fire.orgThe two new Aks are a rather imaginative rendition of a 'AK102' and a AKS74. To be honest neither replica has me jumping up and down with excitement, neither are authentic enough to grab the real enthusiast's attention nor are they novel enough to stand out from the crowd.

Tokyo Marui seems to think that sticking their recoil engine in a slightly tweaked design is enough to make it sell - but who is their market?

The real AK freak on a budget will find cheaper and far better replicated AKs done by Kalash, and the Russian geardos will simply laugh at these 'replicas' for their pretentiousness. Of the two the 'AK102' (which isn't) is perhaps the more attractive to those of a 'tactical AK' bent, and maybe the thought of having that recoil engine will swing the deal for you...

But just remember folks, these TM models use non-standard magazines and with the weak Pound (£) they won't be cheap. I doubt it will be long before some Chinese company (probably Kalash) clones the recoil engine for one of it's nice steel AKs, I'll wait til then!
