Next mission - 'New Year' ops. - 6th Jan. 2008
Finishing off my Christmas holidays nicely will be a trip to South Yorkshire Airsoft on Sunday the 6th of January 2008.
I'm unsure what the turn out will be like, between the post-Christmas lethargy (due to too much turkey) and the bitterly cold weather we may see only a lower than normal attendance. But that doesn't matter much, because - ironically - our 'team' will be fielding it's largest number of members so far.
Left: 'Team AKA' badge - our new team insignia. Born of our obsession with AKs and Soviet/Russian military gear (idea by Dewey).
Joining Dewey, 'Legs' and myself will be Murdock and Moon (Alex and Craig).
We're having to really pool resources to support the extra kit needed (my AK74S once again will be the team loaner), and uniforms will be something of a mish-mash of whatever we have to hand. But, the added fun to be had with our larger group is certainly an exciting prospect.
Full report to follow. Merry Christmas all!
The consensus among 'the team' (well, mainly Dewey!) was that the text on the badge should read 'Team AKA', so it was back to the drawing board.
I still want to check the translation of 'TEAM' - hopefully I can find a Russian speaker among the lecturers at the university where I work. Once I have this confirmed I can then look into getting some of these made by a local company that does short run badge embroidery.
If I can find someone who is prepared to translate English to Russian for me I also thought it might be fun to do the team nicknames on Russian Army style name tags...
Here's an example of what I'd like - this is my erstwhile nickname given to me by some of the guys when I first played at SYA (I don't know why): 'Meat Shield'
