What is Team AKA?
Team AKA is a Russian/Communist forces airsoft themed team. Team AKA is all about enjoying airsoft with a group of like minded people, we play for fun and enjoy teamwork on the field. We are essentially newbies, there are no prima-donnas here and we have no aspirations to become competitive or take ourselves too seriously.
If you see us on the field please come over and say hello, we are a friendly bunch and love talking airsoft and having a laugh.
We can be found playing at SYA (South Yorkshire Airsoft), we support and are friends with the teams who play there.
What type of person are Team AKA looking for?
A good sense of humour is essential - we are, after all, grown men and women running around playing at soldiers with toy guns - whats not funny about that?
Play fair - taking your hits is a central part of the 'honour system' in airsoft and it's a central part of Team AKA's philosophy.
Respect other players - treat other players how you would like to be treated, try not to get involved in arguments or name calling . If the infringement is serious - report them to a marshal - do not take matters into your own hands. Rise above it.
Support your team mates - we encourage out members to play alongside each other, buddy up, communicate and work together on an objective. Though we also appreciate some of our members may wish to take a more solitary approach ie if they are snipers, recon etc and thats fine too, as long as they contribute to the team we can accommodate your style of play. Bare in mind though even snipers work in pairs.
Team AKA is built on a ethos of good attitude and fair play, so we expect our members actions to reflect this. Membership will be withdrawn from anyone who brings Team AKA 's reputation into disrepute (or more commonly called - acting like an tit), for example by cheating in whatever form, deliberatley ignoring marshall instructions, arguing or causing trouble with other teams or individuals, marshalls etc.
What do I need to join?
First of all there is no training, set uniform or obligation to attend certain 'fixtures'.

There is, however, an expectation that if you join a 'Russian' themed team that you actually have an interest in portraying 'Russians' - so we do expect some token effort to 'get into' the spirit of Team AKA.
While ownership of an Kalashnikov is not expected when you first join Team AKA as a probabtionary member, it is expected that new members aspire to own an AK variant within six month of joining. We are 'Team AKA' after all! :)
While we certainly aren't strict on our uniform - especially with 'probationaries' - we would like members to get into the spirit of the team and give the impression of a 'Russian' military look - DPM is acceptable as a SMOG variant .

I'd like to join, what do I do?
Members should apply to join the team via the team forum (requires registration) or use our email contact address, tell us why you want to join us why you would be a 'good member' .
Membership is voted on by the 'Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs' (ie other team members)

Probationary period
There will be a two game probationary period and a person wishing to join must play alongside Team AKA members.
After the two months, a vote is made and if successful a probationery becomes a member of Team AKA. This isn't because we are job worths or because we think we are great airsoft players, its just to weed out cheats, troublemakers etc.
Team AKA patches must then be bought and paid for by the new member (costs £35 - but they are quality) - see Ranger (the Milgeek) for more details.
