US WWII M10 Tank Desroyer propaganda movie

This is a little gem I found on YouTube - it's the original US military propaganda movie singing the praises of the 'new' M10 Tank Destroyer.

Now, despite the lofty words the M10 was not exactly what it appeared, and certainly not an equal match to the Panzer Mk. VI (the Tiger to you and I). In fact the M10 was a self-propelled anti-tank gun armed with a 76.2mm main gun and very weak armour - the theory behind this was to create something very manoeuvrable that had a good punch.

To really take on the Tiger it took a British modification to this armoured vehicle in the form of the addition of the famous 17 Pounder anti-tank gun, M10s so converted then became the 'Achilles' or the M10 Firefly (Firefly being generally the name given to allied armour armed with the 17 Pounder gun).

Achilles was a very apt name for the vehicle, because although the 17 Pounder meant it had the ability to knock out even the vaunted German Tiger it's thin armour meant that this piece of armour had to be used wisely and not in face to face confrontations.
