Krylon paint arrives

Krylon paint seemed to be getting quite rare a commodity in the UK over the past year, a bit of a pain for airsofters as it is the most highly prized paint for all of your airsoft painting projects. Krylon's beautifully smooth finish and non-chip propensity make it ideal for modding your airsoft kit.

Luckily it has all of a sudden become widely available again - as if retailers have tapped into some hitherto undiscovered hoard of it - and I immediately sent off for a couple of cans.

There are a couple of projects I was undertaking that required a coating of OD paint and while Krylon's particular shade of OD is a little dull and earthy - compared to the rich green OD of a lot cordura webbing and BDU items - the chip-resistant attribute of this paint makes it worth overlooking slight inconsistencies in tone.

As usual Krylon's propensity to spray on in a lovely flat coat makes my amateur spraying look every bit as good as a professional job. Krylon dries to the touch within minutes and is ready to take a second coat if you wish nearly straight away - which is recommended if you want to build up that chip-resistant coating.

Above: Here you can see my old skool 'Rainbow 6' style Alpini bump lid with it's new matching face mask. Both items were sprayed with Krylon's OD paint and the effect is quite cool (if not a little spooky).

I bought my Krylon from Patrolbase.co.uk (£6.50 a can) as they had the best deal on postage (Wolf Armouries seems to charge the earth just to send you a can of this stuff).
