Tricked out AKs...By Russians!

Yet another article that is only going to annoy the guys over at the Red Alliance forum. While airsoft AK purists might shun Armalite-esque accessories it seems that the real-deal Russian Special Forces have no such qualms.

The Firearm Blog has an interesting post about a practical shooting competition involving various Russian units, all of whom appear to have modified thier AK-74s in one way or another. My favourite is this attempt this paint job which attempts to mimic the user's Flecktar-D camo BDUs...

Above: While he hasn't quite got the pattern right this Russian SF operative has made a brave attempt to match his AKs colour to his Flecktar-D BDUs. Flecktar-D happens to be my favourite Russian camo (based on the Danish 4-colour Fleckran pattern) and I have been tempted to give this sort of paint job a go. Photo source: The Firearm Blog

It is now easier and easier for airsofters to justify the use of the various tactical AKs available out there, unlike when I first started when adding anything more than a sling to your AK was apt to draw looks of distain and jeers on the field.
