Yawn! Things are REALLY this slow! Borderlands 2

It's funny how people rave on about how much progress has been made in the games industry over the years, the vast improvements in graphics and realism and what-not, but there is one aspect of the games scene that actually seems to have gotten worse and that's the sheer quantity and variety of games being produced.

When I had my Sinclair Spectrum 48k or even my Atrai STe there were always more games that I wanted than I could actually afford to buy. This was always a frustration but at the same time it showed just what a vibrant and productive industry it was at the time.

These days the exact opposite is true. Over the last few months I've been in the odd position of my wife repeatedly asking me if I would like to buy a game as a treat (bless her) and I've had to say 'sorry, there's nothing I fancy'!

I can safely say there is only one game at the moment that in any way mildly tempts me and that's Sniper Elite 2, but it's a single player game and no good for my friends and I to play together with (which is my main interest).

I suppose I can take scant comfort from the news that Play.com has finally started advertising the pre-order for Borderlands 2, but I will have to wait until September for this to be released!

At this rate I may very well did my old Spectrum out the attic!

The Deluxe vesrion of the game (£49.99!) includes the following to tempt you...

  • Golden Key: Unlock a rare item in the mysterious Sanctuary Loot Chest
  • Vault Hunter's Relic: Play solo or team up with friends and boost your gear-hunting fortune.
  • Gearbox Gunpack: A package of unique Gearbox Golden Guns to help you start your journey on Pandora
  • New character class: A free download of the all-new Mechromancer character class

Hey Spider, now there's a spooky co-incidence. I recently bought the Unreal Tournament 2004 Game of the Year from STEAM. UT used to be a big favourite of mine. :)
