Well, the great game drought couldn't go on forever and there now seems to be a glimmer of hope by way of the exciting looking Planetside 2. It's interesting that this has come along as my friends and I have just had a look at the UT-ish Backlight Retribution but were put off by the obvious 'pay to win' model for this game. Planetside 2 get back to the good old familiar 'play to win' ethos.
Again, we are in the realms of Unreal Tournament - not a bad place to be as far as I am concerned - with a lovely sci-fi backstory and look. But PS2 adds all those lovely vehicles we drool over as well as mech suits - and who doesn't like dressing up as a big robot?
Of course I do approach this with a little caution, anyone remember Quake Wars? But the RS2 developers have taken the unusal step of releasing a video of a massive 45 minutes of actual gameplay which does go someway to clarifying exactly what you will be getting...And it does look very prutty!
Here's the link to the official website and you can sign up for the Beta - www.planetside2.com
LMAO - just showed this movie to a friend and his response was 'looks like bf2042!'
Blimey, I had completely forgotten (or deliberately put out mind) that steaming pile of kaka. Funny thing was that it had a very healthy following when I used to be involved with running a game clan! Don't ask me why - it never really worked properly.
