Backlight Retribution - Déjà vu (capital U, capital T)

Desperate times call for desperate measures and as the great games drought continues I can't be the only person who has been rooting through their old game library for sources of amusement. Over the past couple of weeks I've been messing about with such titles as Unreal Tournament and classic Ghost Recon.

So it was very much a case of déjà vu when I sparked up a 'new' F2P online game called Blacklight Retribution. Dress it up how they may, this is Unreal Tournament...Again!

Having said that, this isn't such a bad thing as I liked UT. In fact I have been supporting the Ground Break kickstarter which is, basically, a modernized Ghost Recon classic. Good gameplay never dies.

Anyway, it is 'free to try', but as my friends and I soon found with World of Tanks it is very easy to get drawn into the 'pay to play' aspect if you get too into the game. But having learned my lesson with WoT I am determined to avoid shelling out real money to get the upgrades - I'll just satisfy myself with playing in the lower levels with upgrades I ear through the virtual points system.

So, if you are bored give BR a go, but be prepared to find yourself shouting 'HEADSHOT' and 'MMMMMMM-MONSTER KILL' quite involuntarily!
