Welcome to Team AKA, Comrade!

Based in Yorkshire, England, Team AKA is a new airsoft team dedicated to friendship and solidarity in gaming. First and foremost we are a group of friends who like to have fun playing airsoft. On top of that, we also have an interest in Russian, Eastern European and Communist themed uniform impressions.

We like to bring something a little different to the skirmish field, contributing to the atmosphere and enjoyment of a day's airsofting by fielding an OPFOR (Opposing Force) team.

If you are looking for the comradeship of  likeminded players, who's primary concern is skirmishing our way to a big smile, then perhaps consider accompanying us on our airsoft adventures. All you need bring along is a good attitude.

Where to find us

Our usual haunt is the South Yorkshire Airsoft Proteus Camp. This is a huge 60 acre site, featuring 150 buildings, near Newark, and is rated as one of the best sites in the North of England. It is a nice mix of woodland, buildings and open ground and so gives you a variety of play styles within the one location on the one day.

We do have expeditions planned to other sites around the country, and we hope to team up with other OPFOR enthusiasts when we do.

Team AKA are not premadonas or elitist, we  are in it for the fun we get from playing with a group of likeminded people - playing at soldiers! So, in this sense we are very 'newbie' friendly.

 Additionally, we are very welcoming to those that just want to tag along on occasion. There are no strict team commitments, no training or uniform rules - though we do appreciate any trouble 'members' of the team take to get that 'Russian' look!

* How long have we been playing?

We are NEWBIES at airsoft we first started playing in October 2007, having only been 5 or so times max, we are learning and enjoying doing so thanks to the friendly people at SYA.

* What else should I know about Team AKA?

• We play at SYA once a month, more if we can get away with it
• Are mature in age but we can still run if the occasion calls for it
• Aren't clichy, we are approachable and friendly and talk to anyone
• We won't recommend you spend loads of money on loadouts (Russian gear is generally cheaper to buy and less coordinated than US)
• We play for fun but we like to practice team work
• Don't have rules or guidelines or a military doctrine about rules of engagement etc - though we do insist on at least one mishap or blunder each game!
  

* Interested in joining your fellow comrades?

Then ask yourself if the following applies to you?

• You like Russian/Ukarain, soviet bloc/ etc loadouts.
• You own or are thinking about getting an AK (which we all know is a far better weapon than an armalite)
• Enjoy fun first and teamwork a close second!
• Play at least once a month?
• Play at SYA?
• Don't take yourself or airsoft too seriously.
• Enjoy shouting phrases such as 'for mother russia' as you charge the enemy!
• You have a sense of humour?
